About the practice
My practice is part of ProOrtho. Our group provides all types of orthopedic services through 15 physicians including taking care of professional sports teams.
Locations
Surgical procedures are provided in Seattle and Kirkland at both Hospital and Ambulatory Facilities. We see patients at both office locations, each of which are on the hospital campus and offer handicapped access. We offer procedure specific information.
Insurance Plans
Premera and most every other health plan accepted.

On Your First Visit
We have the ability to take on site x-rays, but patients should bring previously taken x-rays, a list of current medications and health history information.
Meet the Doctor
James W. Pritchett, MD
Dr. Pritchett is a native of Seattle and a graduate of the University of Washington and its Medical School. He is an Associate Clinical Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine at the University of Washington and has published more than 130 original scientific research papers. Dr. Pritchett served as Chief of Orthopaedic Surgery at Swedish Medical Center.
Dr. Pritchett has pioneered techniques in bone conserving joint replacement surgery and has extensive experience in their application including hundreds of successful joint resurfacing procedures. He serves on the Board of Trustees of Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research and the Association of Bone and Joint Surgeons (President, 2004-2005).
Awards
In 2022, Dr. Pritchett became the first orthopedic surgeon to pass the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons Certification test four times (only eligible every 10 years).
In 2004 Dr. Pritchett was elected by his peers as “An Outstanding Physician in the Puget Sound Area” and also received the Physician Recognition Award.
Dr. Pritchett has been certified and twice re-certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He holds fellowships from the American College of Surgeon (lifetime member), American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), American Association of Orthopaedic Surgeons and is a member of several other medical associations.
